FARCIMAR conceived a precast reinforced concrete solution for the execution of the earth retaining walls, in a faster, more economic and perfection way.
The versatility of such solution is in fact enormous having its application revealed to be very valuable in the execution of the earth retaining walls, but also in the execution of inert deposits, of partition walls to seal lands, in the construction of silos for the silage and even of barn pits, among others.
This system is composed by reinforced concrete parts in “L” (incorporated footing until 4,50m of height), “LC” (incorporated footing and buttress until 4,50 m of height) and “I” “in situ” executed footing which may reach a maximum of 12,00m height). The standard width of precast elements is of 1,50m, though in walls of much height consisting only of panels type “I” such width might be increased to 2,50m presenting the panel, in this case, two buttress (π).
In a same wall, of variable height, in order to obtain a greater optimization it can be used the three types of parts (L, LC e I), being the respective study and dimensioning made by the Technical Department at Farcimar, according to the customers’ requests, displaying the respective project.
Its use presents substantial advantages against other solutions, such as:
•The adaptability to construction needs in heights (until 12,00m),use conditions, overloads, among others;
•Perfect finishing without the need of additional works;
•Speed of implementation and entry in service, therefore cost reduction;
•Working and security conditions improvement due to speed and simplicity of the mounting procedures;
•Greater durability face to quality control related to its production;
•Product with CE marking in compliance with the standards EN 15258:2008;
•etc.

DIMENSIONING
The checking for limit conditions is made by using calculation software internally developed and properly tested, being adopted the combinations provided in the existing legislation.
The calculations obey what was defined by the customer / base project and take into account the use conditions of the wall to construct.
PRODUCTION
The precast elements “L”, “LC” and “I” are produced by the process that we designate as manual moulding, in metallic moulds of high strength being the vibration done through high frequency vibrators, that can or not be coupled to them, which allows to obtain parts of high quality and accuracy, presenting a perfect finishing.
The production system used allows the production of parts with di?erent geometries or heights, according to needs, by just making short adjustments in the movable elements (divisions).
The production procedure of precast reinforced concrete of type “L”, “LC” and “I” comprises the following tasks:
•Preparation of moulds;
•Mounting of armours;
•Concreting;
•Curing in the mould;
•Demoulding;
•Storage.
The mounting of moulds and its preparation for concreting is done following the producing order and consists essentially in the insertion of di?erent movable elements (divisions), armours and respective spacers, as well as respective elevation ?ttings.
After a previously checking, the concreting must start, being the elements concreted horizontally with a visible face, turned down.
The concrete, without interruptions, is carefully introduced into the moulds, in order to avoid abrupt changes in their characteristics. Start with the vibration forcing it to enter in all corners and hollows in order to avoid gaps and other defects. At the beginning of the vibration, the mould is already with the concrete part inside and it ends only when the ?nishing of the upper part of the piece is completed.
Ended the concreting and according to the weather conditions of the height, you can proceed with the “moist cure” or “heat cure”. However, in order to avoid moisture loss and ensure a cure which allows certain tightness (to the penetration of gas or liquids) of the super?cial area, the parts are usually covered with a plastic layer.
Usually the demoulding of the various elements starts approximately within 24 hours from the concreting. In this process it is used an overhead crane which allows, through the connection of cables to the lift elements embedded in pieces, its demoulding in a simple and safe way.
Removed from the moulds, the elements are placed, in the interior of the industrial complex, pilled on the wood ceiling and remaining during 24 hours, then, the precast elements are transported to the storage area where they remain until the dispatch.It is mentioned that the precast elements are produced with adequate lifting accessories ensuring an e? cient and safer handling in the plant
QUALITY
After the implementation of the harmonized rules of reference and subsequent audit from the SGS audit team, in the beginning of 2011 was assigned to FARCIMAR the CE Marking Certi?cate on factory production control of the elements of precast concrete retaining walls complying with the requirements under the Harmonized Rules
EN 15258:2008.
The dimensioning, production and control of the precast elements complying with the harmonized rules and the patent requirements, associated to versatility and strength of the productive equipments, handled by experienced operational teams, allow the obtaining of parts with high quality and accuracy with the maximum of pro?tability.
MOUNTING
When desired, besides the wall project and producing/transport of the precast elements, Farcimar may also undertake its mounting on site and in walls of high heights where the use of panels type “I” is necessary, the execution of the footing ”in situ” might also be of Farcimar’s responsibility.
The procedure of application on site of precast concrete elements type “L”, “LC” and “I”, as mentioned before, which may also be assumed by Farcimar consists mainly in the following steps:
•Setting of quotas, levelling and soil settling;
•Preparation of the standing base usually in concrete (of cleaning);
•Standing of the parts in Auto-Crane (daily earnings very high but variable according to the typology of parts and its heights);
•Implementation of the established drainage system and land?lls.
In walls type “I” is added:
•Insertion of the steel of the armour for caps;
•Concreting of footing “in situ”.
